Federal judge won’t block euthanasia of Bruce the dog
The life of a dog set to die because Ventura County officials deem him vicious now rests in the hands of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. On Aug. 6, U.S. District Court Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett ruled she lacks jurisdiction to prevent Ventura County Animal Services from putting to death a 100-pound Great Pyrenees named Bruce. At the same time, the judge determined that Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center lacks standing to step in and try to take control of the dog.
