Growing up, Bryan Perez sold bread and washed cars to help his parents and seven siblings, and shared one broken surfboard with nine friends. Gang violence in his neighbourhood only made the El Salvador surfer more resilient and determined to succeed. His grit paid off when he reached the Olympic stage at Paris 2024, becoming a national hero along the way and spreading a message that “everything is possible”.
