GAINES TWP. u2013 Several Gaines Township firefighters have tendered their resignations following the appointment of a new fire chief, which has also sparked renewed recall efforts targeting two elected officials. By a vote of 3-2 on Tuesday, June 9, the Board of Trustees hired former firefighter Dan Stevens to do the job that Scott Mangrum has been doing since the board demoted former Chief Joe Hyrman in August.
