A man has been taken into custody after an hours-long standoff in Valley Center. On Monday, August 24, just before 10:30 a.m., deputies from the Valley Center Sheriff’s Substation responded to a domestic violence incident in the 14100 block of Hilldale Road. Upon arrival, deputies contacted a woman who had suffered a non-life-threatening stab wound. The suspect, David Valencia, 44, fled the scene and barricaded himself in a portable restroom on a neighboring property. He claimed to be armed with a firearm and refused to comply with deputies’ instructions.
