While global venture investment rebounded last year, the Asia funding market cratered, totaling only $65.8 billion in 2024 — the exact same low the market hit in 2014.

Total venture dollars to Asia-based startups fell to $13.2 billion — its smallest total since it hit $13 billion in Q1 2015 — according to Crunchbase data.

Venture funding in Asia got off to a brutal start in 2023, declining 33% from the previous quarter and a massive 57% from the first quarter of last year.

Asia could not buck the global trend of venture capital pullback in 2022, as total funding for the year dropped 39% compared to the record-setting year of 2021.
